Job description
Job Purpose: Assistant Engineer - NDT is responsible for performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections during in-process and final production stages to verify product quality and ensure compliance with customer specifications, applicable standards, and internal quality systems. Key Responsibilities: Perform ultrasonic inspection during in-process and final stages of production to detect internal discontinuities. Perform magnetic particle inspection during in-process and final stages of production to detect surface and subsurface defects. Perform dye penetrant inspection during in-process and final stages of production to detect surface flaws. Coordinate and support customer and third-party NDT inspections. Coordinate with production and quality teams for inspection planning. Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports in line with customer and standard requirements. Maintain proper records of inspections, test results, equipment calibration, and consumables usage. Assist in the development and improvement of NDT procedures and practices. Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance protocols during inspection activities. Qualifications & Experience: Diploma or B.Sc. with 5-7 years of relevant experience in NDT in Steel Mill/Open Die Forging Industry. NDT Certification: Minimum Level II in ASNT/ISO 9712 for Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT). Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience in NDT of alloy steels, stainless steels, and superalloy forgings for aerospace, defense, nuclear, and oil & gas applications. Key Skills & Competencies: Good understanding of NDT methods (UT, MT, PT) and relevant standards. Ability to interpret inspection results and prepare clear reports. Knowledge of equipment calibration and record management practices. Good documentation and data management skills to support audits and traceability. Strong problem-solving ability, willingness to learn advanced NDT methods, teamwork, and communication skills to support production and quality functions effectively.
